How It All Began

Back in 2015, in Thailand, my dad bought me my very first DJ controller. At the time, I was just a kid—I didn’t really know how to use it, and it mostly sat untouched. But something about it stayed in my mind. Fast forward two years, around 2017, I started thinking seriously about what I wanted to be in the future.... Sometimes, all it takes is one moment to change your life. For me, that moment happened back in 2017, in the heart of a busy city—Bangkok, Thailand. I was just a kid, scrolling through videos like any other day, when I stumbled across a DJ named Pro DJ Yamato performing with insane skills. It wasn’t just music—it was magic. Something clicked inside me. I remember thinking, "I want to do that too. One day, I’ll be a DJ just like him.

That spark kept growing. Not long after, I saw another DJ—SOUNTEC—mixing Mi Gente, and that energy, that vibe... it pulled me in deeper. That’s when the dream officially started.

I dug out my old Pioneer DDJ-SB2, a controller my dad had gifted me years before. Until then, it had just been collecting dust. But now, it felt like I was holding a piece of my future. I started practicing more seriously, playing around with tracks and trying to teach myself the art of mixing. In 2020, I even did a Facebook livestream—just me, my SB2, and a tiny dream. It wasn’t perfect, but it was real. That live session was one of my first steps toward putting myself out there.

In 2019, I decided to take things to the next level and enrolled at the Bangkok Invaders DJ Academy. That’s where everything started to shift. I began learning the real techniques behind the craft. A few months into the course, my dad once again believed in my dream and bought me a brand-new DDJ-1000SRT and a laptop. That controller is still my main weapon to this day, even though the laptop has gotten too old to keep up.

But as much as I loved learning in Thailand, I knew that if I truly wanted to take things to the highest level, I had to go beyond. I had one place in mind—The Netherlands. Why? Because that’s where legends like Martin Garrix came from, and more importantly, where the legendary Herman Brood Academie exists. I dreamed of walking the same halls as the DJs and producers I looked up to.

So, I made a bold move. I left everything behind and came to the Netherlands, chasing the unknown with nothing but passion and ambition. The first thing I needed to do was learn Dutch, which I spent three years doing just so I could reach MBO 1, the first step toward applying to my dream school. I’m currently studying in MBO 1 now, and next year, I’ll be ready for MBO 2. If all goes as planned, 2026 will be the year I finally step into the Herman Brood Academie.

But the journey didn’t just stop at language or school. Along the way, I’ve gained more knowledge than I ever imagined. I studied music production at De Muziekfabriek in Strijp-S Eindhoven for two years, and later continued at Key4Music in Best for another year, diving deep into sound design.

At the time, one of my music school teachers loved a track I made and even asked to collaborate with me. When I told him about what happened to my Spotify account, he warned me that I might be shadowbanned. I had a tough decision to make. I didn’t want to lose all the progress I’d made, but I knew I had to protect my future. So, I made the switch.

That’s when Bad Diamond was born.

The name felt right. Like a diamond, I’ve been through pressure—but I never cracked. I just kept growing stronger. Now, I’m more focused than ever. I want the world to know who I am, what I stand for, and what I’ve worked for all these years.

One DJ who continues to inspire me today is James Hype. To me, he represents what DJing is really about—real skills, real mixing, not just pressing play and jumping around. I study his style, his energy, and his love for the music. That’s what I want to bring to the world.Looking back, I’ve come a long way from that little kid watching a DJ video in his room. Since 2016, I’ve been dreaming, grinding, and believing.

From livestreams to classrooms, from struggles to growth—I’ve lived every chapter of this story. And I’m still writing the next one.My goal is simple, but powerful: to become a successful DJ and music producer—someone who inspires the next kid watching a DJ video for the first time, just like I once did.

And no matter what, I won’t stop until I get there.

Dream big. Keep pushing. Never give up. Keep going. And most importantly, always believe in yourself—and know that one day you will get there. But first, you have to start with day one. Like The Rock once said: One Day or Day One. That’s the number one quote I always keep with me.

Live stream

Every moment taught me something new—about music, about the industry, and about myself. While growing as an artist, I also started building my presence online. I launched a YouTube channel under the name DJ G Awson, a name my dad gave me back in 2018. I used that name proudly—until something unexpected happened. When I released one of my tracks through DistroKid, it got taken down from Spotify because of false bot stream detection. I never paid for streams, never used shady promo tactics—but the damage was done, and DistroKid couldn’t help. That hurt.
